POSTDOC POSITION (F/M/X) 

Working on the coherent Neutrino Scattering Experiment NUCLEUS 

(full-time, 40h per week) 

The Experimental Particle Physics group, a joint working group of the Institute of Atomic and Subatomic Physics at the Technische Universität Wien and the Institute of High Energy Physics (HEPHY) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, is a member of the experiments NUCLEUS, searching for coherent elastic neutrinonucleus scattering, and COSINUS and CRESST, both searching directly for Dark Matter. The group is a member of the Sonderforschungsbereich “Neutrinos and Dark Matter in Astro- and Particle Physics” (https://www.sfb1258.de). 

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow working on the data acquisition system of the experiment and data analysis. 

The candidate should have a PhD in experimental particle physics and a solid background in particle physics. Solid programming skills in python are mandatory, and additional expertise in data analysis with ROOT is an advantage. The successful candidate will be a member of the NUCLEUS collaboration (https://nucleusexperiment.org/). 

The group in Vienna developed and constructed the data acquisition system (VDAQ3) for the NUCLEUS experiment. Besides this, the group develops an analysis framework for the reconstruction and analysis of data from cryogenic experiments, including the application of modern AI algorithms. The postdoctoral fellow will play a leading role in the commissioning of the NUCLEUS experiment. She/He will be involved in further development of the data acquisition and control software and will act as the main contact person within the collaboration for the operation of VDAQ3. Besides this, she/he will also extend and adapt the existing analysis framework to the specific needs of the NUCLEUS experiment and contribute to data analysis of the experiment.  

Contributions to the ongoing operation of the NUCLEUS experiment at the Chooz experimental site in France are expected.

The position will be opened for a period of four years.
