The Department of Islamic-Theological Studies is looking for a University Assistant Praedoc in the field of Islam in Contemporary Society. We are a young team and offer a pleasant working atmosphere, diverse tasks and good opportunities for further training.
Your personal sphere of influence:
Your future workplace will be at the Department of Islamic-Theological Studies, primarily in the area of the professorship Islam in Contemporary Society. In addition to conducting independent research and developing research projects in the core disciplines of Islamic theology, you will be responsible for teaching at the Department.
The position comprises 30 hours. The duration of the contract is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship will be automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not submit a declaration of non-renewal within the first 12 months.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You will develop an independent research profile in the core areas of Islam in Contemporary Society
- You will be involved in research projects and academic studies in the field of Islamic-Theological Studies.
- You will publish internationally and give talks.
- You will apply for projects and acquire third-party funding.
- You will prepare and complete a dissertation ready for publication.
- You will teach courses independently in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement.
- You will supervise your students.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed Master's degree in Islamic Theology or Religious Education or a comparable discipline
- Willingness and ability to engage in interdisciplinary and international discourse
- Didactic skills, experience in student supervision
- Good IT skills
- Excellent knowledge of English (C1)
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Team player with high social/communication skills
- Ability to take criticism, resilience and commitment
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
