The Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Vienna invites applicants for a University Assistant (Praedoc) position in the field of Econometrics or Statistics. Our team offers a pleasant working environment within a friendly, dynamic, and international team, located in the heart of Austria's capital, a city ranked with the highest quality of life worldwide. Collaborations with reseachers in the research network "Data Science @ Uni Wien" (https://datascience.univie.ac.at) are highly encouraged.

This position includes: 

• Active participation in research, teaching, and administrative activities. 
• Involvement in the organization of conferences, meetings, and symposia.
• Teaching duties as specified in the collective agreement.
• Exam-related responsibilities.
• Supervision of students.
• Contribution to evaluations and quality controls.

The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.

Your future tasks:

You will actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means: 

• You are expected to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months. 
• You will assist in teaching activities as specified in the collective agreement. 
• You will take on administrative tasks related to research and teaching.

This is part of your personality:

• Knowledge in econometrics or statistics.
• Completed (or near completion) Master’s degree in econometrics, statistics, data science, economics, or a related field with a strong quantitative focus.
• German language skills are an advantage but not a requirement.
