At the Institute of Discrete Mathematics and Geometry, the Research Unit of Applied Geometry is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: October 2025.
Tasks:
- Research on topics of the research unit (e.g. applied geometry, discrete geometric structures, discrete differential geometry, geometry processing)
- Teaching tasks (geometry in architecture, mathematics, and in teacher training) as well as examinations
- Cooperation and guidance of students
- Cooperation with the Center for Geometry and Computational Design
- Writing a dissertation and publications
- Participation in scientific events
- Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in Mathematics or similar
- Experience in the following scientific fields: (classical/applied) geometry (not required)
- Very good skills in German and English communication and writing
- Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
- Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
