In addition to providing a solid academic education, we also place a special emphasis on the personal development of students. Your workplace:
The Department of Education of the Faculty of Philosophy and Education is seeking a 0,5 Senior Lecturer in the research union "Biography, Education and Society" as of 10/01/2025. The teaching responsibilities will include courses in the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Educational Science, with a focus on education, counseling, and development across the lifespan (including a Bachelor's thesis seminar), as well as diversity and social difference. Further information on the curricula can be found at: https://sss-biwi.univie.ac.at/studium/. The 20-hour weekly teaching commitment includes an average of 7 academic teaching hours per semester.
Your future tasks:
- You hold courses independently at the Bachelor's and Master's levels.
- You will actively contribute to the (further) development of course and examination formats.
- Continuously updating your academic knowledge, continuing your didactic training, and undertaking research tasks during non-teaching periods, are expected.
- You will take on administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching.
What we expect:
- Completed PhD in educational science or related disciplines with a clear focus on educationally relevant aspects of biographical and life course research, such as studies on the significance of different categories of difference for biography and life course.
- Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution, particularly in qualitative-reconstructive methods of biographical research.
- Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and for university teaching.
