The Department of Civil Law is looking to fill a position as university assistant ("prae doc") with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Christiane Wendehorst, LL.M. (Cantab.) starting March 15 2025. The employment contract for prae doc assistants is initially limited to 1.5 years and will be automatically extended to a total of 4 years, unless the employer declares non-renewal after 12 months at the latest. Interested persons with a degree in law and excellent academic results, especially in civil law and in the subsidiary subjects of private law, are invited to apply. You can expect a dedicated team that deals in research and teaching with civil law in its entire breadth and its corporate law aspects and very specifically with current legal issues and developments in the field of digitalization (e.g. current issues regarding artificial intelligence, data economics, platform regulation, data protection). The willingness to actively contribute to larger research and publication projects as well as to the preparation of courses in a team is required. Excellent command of German and English is required.
This is what you do:
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
- Participation in publications / academic articles and research studies / presentations / research projects
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months
Minimum requirements:
- Completion of a law degree with above-average success
- High professional competence, methodological competence and didactic competence
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing as well as excellent command of written and spoken German and English
- IT user skills
- Ability to work in a team
Desirable qualifications are:
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Basic experience in research methods and academic writing Application documents
