We are looking for a highly motivated and committed Prae Doc (PhD student, 30 h/w) with outstanding university grades to join the AG Muttenthaler at the Institute of Biological Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry.

Your position will focus on bioactive peptide research, chemical synthesis of peptides, and structure-activity relationship studies.

The institute provides an excellent environment for research at the interface of synthetic organic chemistry, molecular biology, biophysics and biomedicine. We combine chemical approaches such as the synthetic of modified amino acids with solid phase peptide syntheses (SPPS) and biotechnological methods to address scientific challenges in the areas of protein biochemistry, neuropeptide research, biomaterials and medicine. You continuously strive for scientific and personal development and look for a place to carry out internationally.

As part of our diverse team, you will develop synthetic methodologies and gut-stable peptides and characterize their biophysical properties and value as new probes and therapeutic lead compounds in applications for gut-derived disorders.
You should have previous knowledge in the areas of peptide chemistry, medicinal chemistry, GPCR pharmacology and analytical methods, including HPLC, MS, CD, and NMR.
Moreover, you should have a working knowledge of university procedures and structures. Ideally, you have been involved in scientific research work around GPCRs, particularly melanocortin receptors.

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
