Your personal sphere of play:
In the Department of Economic Sociology at the Faculty of Economics, Business and Statistics a position of a Research Associate (post doc) will be filled by March 1st, 2025. The position is limited to a four-year period, which can be extended by two years in case of a positive evaluation. The position holder is expected to develop their own research program in economic sociology – an area in sociology which addresses economic phenomena in societal contexts – including the acquisition of external funds as well as contributing to ongoing projects in the department. The department is looking for a personality who primarily engages in a quantitative, preferably experimental approach to research.
Your future tasks:
Your tasks will encompass research, teaching (according to the regulations of the collective agreement) and administration in the Department of Economic Sociology.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in subject Sociology, Political Science, or closely related fields
- Outstanding dissertation
- Firm understanding of the collection and analysis of survey or experimental data and of the relevant statistical techniques, preferably documented by publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Use of experimental methods, a pertinent teaching record and international experience are of advantage.
- The teaching will cover courses regularly offered by the Department.
- Didactic skills / experience in e-learning
- IT skills (MS Office, Stata or R and if possible oTree)
- Excellent knowledge of German and English (C1)
