In the Service Unit Center for Research Data Management at TU Wien, we are looking for reinforcement (expected starting March 2025) for the team responsible for systems and services that support researchers of TU Wien in research data management.
The Center for Research Data Management serves researchers of TU Wien in topics covering the whole research data lifecycle. Besides providing guidance and educational resources, the center is involved in the development and maintenance of systems actively used by researchers, e.g. research data repository or tool for data management planning. The center is the product owner for the systems, but also has its own software engineers that help in keeping the systems aligned with the needs of the researchers and recent advancements in the area of research data management.
The position is supported by the project “Shared RDM Services and Infrastructure”, funded by the BMBWF (Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research). For this reason, it is limited to the duration of the project (June 30th, 2026). The contract may be extended beyond this fixed timeframe if additional funding will be available.
Tasks:
- Collaborate with product owner and software engineers to advance the development of DAMAP – an open-source software for data management planning
- Coordinate DAMAP development across institutions, e.g. manage backlog, help prioritize feature requests, manage project boards, facilitate sprint planning, etc.
- Maintain a community of adopters consisting of Austrian and international institutions
- Promote DAMAP through the project’s website, workshops, demos, talks, presentations with potential adopters, etc.
- Prepare training material, documentation, tutorials, posters, etc.
Your profile:
- University degree or technical education (HTL, FH) or relevant work experience
- Excellent Communication: Effective communication skills to convey ideas, requirements, and progress between stakeholders, developers, and the product owner
- Organizational Skills: The capacity to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and ensure efficient project execution
- Presentation Skills: The ability to create engaging and informative presentations to communicate project updates, product features, and benefits to diverse audiences, including developers, management, and potential users
- Documentation and Technical Writing: Proficiency in creating clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly documentation to aid developers, users, and other stakeholders in understanding and utilizing the software effectively
- Working proficiency in English and German is required

Entry level salary is determined by the level IIIB of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 1,535.70/month gross, 14 times/year for 20 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
