Are you a skilled Laboratory Technician with a passion for environmental analysis? The Department of Environmental Geosciences at the University of Vienna is looking for a motivated Lab Technician to join our dynamic team and support our research. As a Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in facilitating experiments related to environmental processes and various emerging contaminants based on cutting-edge techniques.
The position is initially limited to six months, with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement. The weekly working time can be agreed on within the range of 30 to 40 working hours per week.

The Department of Environmental Geosciences (EDGE) at the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science (CeMESS), University of Vienna, consists of several internationally leading research groups dedicated to addressing questions related to environmental challenges. Our focus lies on emerging pollutants, plastic pollution, biotransformation, and the impact of nanoparticulate pollutants on humans and environmental systems. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be an essential part of our dynamic research community and work closely with experts in the field of emerging contaminants analysis.
Your future tasks:
Working closely with our international laboratory and research team, you will contribute to experiments focused on exploring a diverse range of environmental processes, including the study of emerging contaminants. Your responsibility will encompass operating and maintaining a variety of instruments, including mass spectrometry (coupled to ICP, HPLC, SEC, and GC). Sample preparation, instrument calibration, data acquisition, and analysis will be integral aspects of your role. Additionally, you will contribute to general laboratory organization and quality management.

To be considered for the Laboratory Technician position, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Education as a Laboratory Technician or a degree in Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in operating and maintaining instrumentation for environmental analysis.
- Proven experience in sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills ensuring accurate and reliable results.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to contribute to troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with the research team.
- Ability to fluently communicate in English, German language skills are a plus, but not required.
