The University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna establish the initial Austrian node of the European life sciences infrastructure ELIXIR. The ELIXIR AT node will be extended during the next years to many further institutions from academia, industry and government, with the aim to enable all Austrian researchers to access and analyse life science data, to improve the value and impact of life science research on public health, the environment and the economy.
We are therefore searching for a highly motivated person (m/f/d) with professional experience in the coordination of research infrastructures for the position of the ELIXIR Austria node coordinator. This position is initially limited for a period of 4 years and will be extended afterwards. The workplace will be the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science of the University of Vienna.
Description of the position:
You will be the central person who coordinates all areas of activities of the ELIXIR Austria node. These include life science data related services, training and resources. You will organize the communication within the ELIXIR AT node, with other nodes, with ELIXIR Europe and with all stakeholders. You will coordinate the acquisition of basic and project related funding. Your will report to the head of ELIXIR AT. National and international travel activity and visits to involved partners are expected.
Your future tasks:
- Support the head of ELIXIR AT and the associated leadership group with planning and implementation of activities in the Austrian node
- Contribute to initiating and facilitating collaboration within the development of infrastructure between the partner institutions
- Coordinate communication and cooperation within ELIXIR AT and with ELIXIR's Hub and other ELIXIR nodes
- Establish and maintain channels and forums to ensure good interaction with and between the relevant professional environments at the partner institutions, ELIXIR AT and ELIXIR internationally
- Coordinate collaboration between other relevant research infrastructures locally, nationally and internationally
- Participate in writing funding applications and associated reporting
- Contribute to outward-directed operations and communication, including the node's websites and social media.
Your qualifications:
- Applicants must have a completed university education (PhD)
- Applicants must have experience in financing and coordinating scientific projects across institutions with many collaboration partners, including international collaborations
- Applicants must have experience in working with and/or maintaining life science infrastructure
- Experience from inter- and transdisciplinary research is an advantage
- Experience from research administration, preferably from larger research projects, is an advantage
- Knowledge of the Austrian academic, industry and government sectors, the EU and their instruments is an advantage
- Knowledge of research policy and cooperations between academia, business and government is an advantage
- Applicants must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English and German.
